Dr Bram Nap

Position: PostDoc
Bram got his PhD at the University of Galway where he worked on improving current tools to work with whole-body metabolic models. Additionally, he added functionality to create and optimise in silico diets, to understand the in silico effects of nutrition on human metabolism. He currently is working as a postdoc at the University of Galway continuing the work on in silico nutrition and human metabolism.

Dr Daan R van der Veen

Position: Senior Lecturer in Sleep and Chronobiology and Section Lead for Chronobiology at the University of Surrey
Dr Daan R. van der Veen is a Senior Lecturer in Sleep and Chronobiology and Section Lead for Chronobiology at the University of Surrey. His research investigates how circadian, ultradian and seasonal biological rhythms shape physiology and behaviour, with a particular focus on how light-, food- and sleep-driven timing systems interact, and how their disruption in modern 24-hour society, disease and ageing affects metabolism and health. He will present recent work from the team on the impact of meal timing on circadian rhythms in circulating metabolites and glucose homeostasis, based on highly controlled human studies conducted in the Clinical Research Facility at the University of Surrey. This work combines targeted metabolomics with continuous glucose monitoring to characterise metabolic rhythms and assess how the timing of food intake influences human circadian metabolism.
