Online Training Course – March 23, 25 and 26, 2026 (10am – 12pm)

For our next GIBA training workshop, we are organising an online training session on essential concepts and techniques of the gut-immune-brain axis (GIBA).

What will we cover?

This online training course will take place across three morning sessions and will cover fundamental concepts and research techniques related to the GIBA. Each session will include two one-hour lectures, focused on one of the three axes: gut, immune, and brain, led by the following speakers:

Who is this course for?

The course is open to the entire GIBA network and is free to attend. It is aimed at providing an introductory understanding for those who are new to the field and wish to explore interdisciplinary collaborations within the GIBA. The course will give researchers a flavour of what is possible across these domains, as well as an overview of the techniques, challenges, and limitations they should be aware of. It will be particularly suitable for those seeking to start new collaborations within the GIBA and are interested in applying to our future funding opportunities.

Registration deadline: March 13th at 5 pm.

Policy Synthesis Report: The Current State of Gut-Immune-Brain Axis Policy in the UK

This comprehensive report examines the evolving landscape of UK policy related to the Gut-Immune-Brain Axis, a critical area exploring how the gut, immune system, and brain interact to influence mental and physical health.

The report provides an in-depth review of how the gut-brain axis is currently represented in UK parliamentary debates, bills, and governmental discussions, highlighting key policy areas including environmental, dietary, lifestyle, and public health interventions (as of December 2025). It also covers the activities of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on the Human Microbiome, regional developments across devolved administrations, and international comparisons.

With growing parliamentary recognition and scientific progress, this report identifies opportunities for future policy development, including integration of microbiome science into national health strategies, regulatory frameworks, and public education. It underscores the potential for multidisciplinary collaboration to translate research findings into effective policy actions that enhance both mental and physical wellbeing across the UK population.
