Gut-Immune-Brain-Axis Cell Resource

A web-tool for scientists and people curious about the many different cells that help your gut and brain communicate. For your gut to function well, many different cells are needed: to pick up nutrients, to sense how your digestion is going and to protect you from harmful microbes. There is also an entire gut nervous system which ensures that your bowels move as they should, without you having to actively think about it. Your brain has a lot of control over all this - it can send signals that slow down or speed up digestion, as needed. Equally, your gut can signal to the brain, for example, to make you are aware when you have eaten something bad.

This page shows you which cells are critical in this process and where they are within and along your gut. For scientists, we have also assembled expert information on each cell type, such as the current state of knowledge, favourite models and expression databases. Scroll on to learn more!
